Float Building - Sunday Sept. 19, 2-5 pm

We have alot to get started on this Sunday! The building of the rocket, billboard and trailer base continues, using table saws and power tools, so please review the Safety list below with your children. The kids will be working on attaching the chicken wire, painting and starting to glue and install the pomps. Please bring work/gardening gloves if you have them for yourself and children. Also, it will be hot so bring water and/or other cold drinks.

1. Build Structural Frame Components (rocket, billboard & trailer base)
2. Stretch & Staple Chicken Wire to Frames
3. Paint Exposed Edges & Surfaces
4. Glue & Install Pomps
5. Install Carpet & Skirt on Trailer
6. Assemble Components Together
7. Finishing Touches
8. Let’s have a Parade!

Safety – Always Use Common Sense

General Site Safety
-Absolutely NO running or horseplay
- Keep a clean worksite
- Stay clear of running power tools operated by others
- Be alert and aware of your surroundings
Hand Tools
- Keep your eyes on what you’re doing
- Keep hands clear of the “business end” of all tools
-Materials
- Wood – beware of splinters – wear gloves
- Chicken Wire – very sharp ends can puncture skin – wear gloves
- Nails & Screws – watch for protruding nail & screw tips – always cut, remove or bend over any exposed nails & screws
Trailer - The trailer is not a jungle gym, be careful when working on or around it!

In addition to safety concerns, please remind your child to be on their best behavior as the Mimms are being very generous in letting us use their property to build the float.

Thank you all for your help! I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.
